Rewards to Watch
Gems, chests, keys, and the Merge Jewel are the rewards most players should notice first because they can affect longer sessions more than small energy drops.

Two useful reward routes
Merge Jewel: the community wiki says it can upgrade an item, but not a Generator or Generator Part. Keep it for an item you actually intend to push, rather than using it on an open board.
Golden Key: merging Shattered Keys can lead to a Golden Key. The same source says the Big Golden Chest gives 100 Energy and three random items; check the chest in your current server before planning around its contents.
